1. Please introduce yourself.: hey pals, its me, fallcat
2. How long have you been making websites?: I've been working on this bad boy since 2023!
3. And what got you into the hobby?: Well, I had the idea of hosting a webcomic online on my own website with the name "BONICs" whenever I was younger for like, forever. Course, this site is barely dedicated to webcomics, I just couldn't let go of the name like that though, it was too good!!! Anyways, the idea of making a website kept growing until i found out about neocities and, well, just started.
4. What kind of website are you most interested in?: I'd say primarily ones in which have different resources that either I can utilize on my own sites, or even more so ones that are just fun to go through, really.
5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?: It depends on the page, sometimes I make a rough sketch in ibisPaint, other times I just bullshit it until something decent comes out.
6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.: UMM THIS ONE IS HARD ESPECIALLY BECAUSE MY BIGGEST INSPIRATION SITE STARTING OUT NO LONGER EXISTS AFAIK, BUT I'M GONNA SAY THIS ONE BECAUSE IIRC ITS THE FIRST NEOCITIES SITE I STUMBLED ACROSS (back when i think it was called virtual diva or something???)
7. What's your favourite part about making websites?: making different assets for it, prettifying it yk
8. And the thing you struggle with the most?: AUGHHH JAVASCRIPT
9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?: i dont like to keep it consistent i like to keep the people guessing oh yeah
10. How confident are you with CSS?: like 3.5/5 stars is what id rate myself
11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?: after answering this i sure hope so!
12. What is your favourite HTML element?: marquees omg
13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?: look at other sites for ideas
14. Do you know JavaScript?: YES AND NO HELP
15. How about PHP?: it doesn't really click with me
16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?: purple
17. Are you more focused on content or design?: ummm content is inconsistent from me because i ramble and am nuts soo it depends!
18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?: bonics.org, write that down.
19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?: YES! MORE!
20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?: ya
21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?: i love them sm dude
22. What do you think of button walls in particular?: i freaking love them and i love stealing from them
23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?: I never really thought of it. I feel like a lot of the themes would be very similar, as like these are the colors and whatnot that I like, but if I had to, id probably start learning from a different angle then just design
24. Are you envious of other people's websites?: i used to be, but now i just get giddy looking at my own. the indie web is very diverse and everyone has their own thing, yk? and i can always incorporate other peoples ideas in with my own in some ways, so no biggie!
25. What text editor do you use?: visual studio code
26. Why do you use that one?: idk i'm just used to it atp!
27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?: oh buddy they're freaking everywhere.
28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?: I didn't know there was a debate, i think both are valid web hosting choices, i only use Neocities cause I found it first!
29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?: 0.4% (210.61 MB) of your 50 GB storage (per neocities) as of March. 7th 2026.
30. Do you keep local backups of your files?: Yes, multiple.
31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?: I love complicated and cluttered ones, but simple ones are really good too!
32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?: Purple. I like purple. Also pink because it's a good accent color and I like it too.
33. Have you ever thought about quitting? Why?: nope! because i don't wanna!
34. Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?: I have one that I know IRL, i was in a discord server with multiple webmasters but i'm not really active in it. i would like to make more webmaster friends tho so hmu lmao
35. Do people in your real life know about your website?: LOL YES!
36. Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?: meh, whenever im in the mood.
37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?: I have a lot of my older versions of the websites on my sitemap!
38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?: i want it to be all, but it is tuff
39. Do you do web design professionally?: no i don't think that I'm that skilled yet
40. If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?: I would if the work conditions were good. I work at CVS, front store and pharmacy, heh, what can i say
41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?: like, when im joining a webring or reaching out to people for research purposes yes LOL
42. Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?: I do, although that could change someday
43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?: Signal, discord, telegram sometimes.
44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?: Yes, my current playlist
45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?: i host some projects on like github and render respectively, but i do like to keep things primarily here
46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?: just whatever im in the mood for
47. Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?: I like to think i'm mainly true to myself on here, but i don't want to overshare tooo much, yk?
48. Have you ever made a good friend thanks to your website?: no, not yet!
49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?: umm yes
50. What are practices that you think people should avoid?: hmmm i guess using ai to do the work for you. or, when it comes to js, following tutorials too closely without really understanding them, I'm guilty of that one.
51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?: If there's free to use code out there, use it to help yourself learn! W3schools is also a realllly good resourse, i'm referring back to it all the time because my memory sucks
52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?: I actually had to look this one up because I had no idea what it meant - but I usually just use divs honestly. I try to make use of other html elements but like, div has never failed me lol
53. Do you consider different browsers?: i like brave
54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.: Brave. its good if you like chrome-based browsers and its wayyy better than google. Just make sure to turn off ai in settings
55. And what OS are you on?: Currently, i'm using windows, however i run arch on my pc
56. Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?: just whatever is most convenient in the moment
57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?: LOL no
58. What are your thoughts on autoplay?: if you don't like it im sorry because it's everywhere on my page
59. What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?: look at the buttons below my friend ;)
60. Do you have any web shrines? What do you like to see in that sort of page?: i REALLY want to make one one day. i've seen some webshrines that have little playable sections and whatnot and those are really freaking cool. I wanna make one for monika from DDLC, and I've considered making one for other of my faves in video games, but I just don't know where to start just yet!
61. Are your websites "cliche", in your opinion?: mm, nope! i don't think so!
62. What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?: For me it's just one that is a multi-purpose site. i like to brain-vomit everywhere and never clean it up.
63. Are you an artist? Do you draw or design your own assets?: Yes, im an artist. A lot of the assets on my page i made, but I also use assets by many others!
64. What are your favourite resource sites?: Look here! I'll update it eventually, pinky swear
65. Is there a habit you just can't get away from no matter how hard you try?: my big issue, and i think that this goes further from just web development, is actually finishing a project when I start.
66. What's your biggest advice for a new webmaster?: perfection isn't necessary, just make it work for now, the rest will come later!
67. Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?: I used to! but now it's more of a mix
68. What do you think of frameset layouts?: i dont think i'm too familar on this, but it is likely something i've never used
69. How about table-based layouts?: oh it depends but i fw them heavy
70. Do you subscribe to the ideas of "one-column", "two-column" and "three-column" layouts? Do you use any of these?: i have a lot and i like them
71. Do you spend longer on the HTML or the CSS?: CSS for sure
72. Have you ever made a page with no CSS? It's useful for your thoughts.: if they're contained in like, iframes, probably. but no, i refuse.
73. Do you ever find yourself making layouts with nothing to put on them? Or do you only make layouts when the need arises?: UM.. dont call me out like that ever a-freaking-gain
74. Would you consider yourself a beginner? Or advanced? Somewhere in the middle?: definitely in the middle. I still have the problem with everything looking wonky on other screens and having no idea how to fix it without completely restructuring the code and i am NOT gonna do allat
75. Do you have a habit of looking at the source code of websites you visit?: yes :)
76. How did YOU learn how to make websites?: YOUTUBE, W3SCHOOLS, STACK OVERFLOW, BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS
77. Do you ever force elements to do things they're not supposed to?: LOL yea
78. Thoughts on floating elements?: adore them
79. When you're sizing stuff, what do you use first? Do you use px, em, %, or something else?: i try to stick to px or rem
80. Do you have a favourite font?: FUCK ummm... so i love love LOVE fredoka one but it gets to be a little bit tedious to use yk, like i dont want my stuff to look too same-y. I adore fonts that have like a bit of a hand-written feel, Sofadi one is also awesome!!!!
81. Would you run a website with another person? How would that work?: Depends, i feel like i'd get annoyed really easily.
82. Do you surf the Web to find new personal websites very often?: Hmm not as much as I used to, i usually do when I'm looking for inspiration. I definitely need to pick it back up though, i'm sure theres plenty of gems out there just waiting to be uncovered.
83. Do you bookmark other people's websites? How would you feel knowing someone else bookmarked yours?: I do!!! I would be just blushing kicking my feet so happy
84. What do you want people to be most impressed with when they see your website?: Layout, design, the general feel, different assets and MOSTLY fallchat because i love that sonova gun.
85. Are you interested in technology outside of websites? Do you collect?: FURBY???
86. How often and for how long are you online?: when im not busy at work, and not touching grass. So quite often actually.
87. When it comes to your website, who is your target audience?: i don't really know? just people who are into similar things as me?
88. Have you ever been interested in XHTML?: Umm i've never used it, and i don't think that I would use it. Although I do love markdown, it just seems too, like, strict? I'm not too familiar with it so i may be wrong idk
89. Do you program in general? Have you ever written a program for use with or on your website, not counting simple JavaScript?: YES! my chatapp!!! I also am working on a like stardew valley mod but i haven't made much progress (bc i like to start things and never finish them)
90. Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?: I used carrd for a good while, i think they're neat. I took a lot of aspects from my old carrd page and reused them for my furby shelf, so i think they're definitely useful!
91. Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?: I did! but i removed it from my site, need to re-add it, eventually
92. Do you frequent forums? Which ones?: Honestly? Maybe it's dumb but i don't really get forums that much? I would like to more often, the melon forum seems like a place that I could make a lot of connections! But idk, maybe one day.
93. Do you write your page content directly into the editor, or do you prepare it elsewhere, like a text document or a Word document?: I like to use obsidian for writing, and then ill reformat it later.
94. Do you think you appear cool to others? A more accurate answer now: do other people ever say you're cool?: PEOPLE HAVE SAID I AM??? but i don't really see why, im just a little corn ball what can i say?
95. Are you embarrassed of your old work? Have you ever deleted everything out of shame?: I USED TO BE! but now i learned to embrace progress
96. Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?: Archive 100%, this site is my baby.
97. Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?: Sometimes I do.
98. Are you willing to reveal who your best online friend is, and/or if they have a website?: Hamp!!! and no.
99. And do you optimise the images on your website?: sometimes!
